Highlights
- Tokenized stocks cleared $20.9 billion in DEX trading volume over the past 30 days, according to Token Terminal data.
- Uniswap V4 took 40.7% of that flow and Uniswap V3 took 19.4%, a combined 60.1% share worth roughly $12.6 billion.
- Outstanding tokenized equities reached $4.43 billion as of September 15, up about 390% since January.
- Only 7.54% of tokenized equity supply is actively deployed in DeFi, with liquidity pools accounting for 65.4% of that activity.
Decentralized exchanges handled $20.9 billion worth of tokenized stock trades over the last 30 days, and one protocol captured most of it. Uniswap's two most recent versions together processed about $12.6 billion of that volume, a 60.1% share that leaves every other on-chain venue competing for the remaining two-fifths.
The split inside Uniswap matters as much as the total. Version 4, launched with a hooks architecture that lets pool creators attach custom logic to swaps, led the category on its own with 40.7% of tokenized-stock DEX volume, per Token Terminal. The older V3 contracts, which pioneered concentrated liquidity, held 19.4%. The fact that the newer design is already doing roughly twice the business of its predecessor in this niche says something about how issuers and market makers are choosing to list equity tokens.
Volume Now Dwarfs the Asset Base
Set the $20.9 billion figure against the size of the market it trades. Binance Research put total tokenized equities at $4.43 billion as of September 15, a 390.4% jump from January. Tokenized stocks now make up 13.0% of the broader real-world asset market, up from 4.9% at the start of the year, while the full RWA sector reached $34.18 billion.
That arithmetic implies the entire float of tokenized shares turned over on DEXs several times in a single month. For a category that spent most of 2025 criticized as thin and illiquid, it is a sharp change. It also fits with the product activity of recent weeks, including covered-call style markets for stock tokens on Robinhood Chain and Ondo's tokenized portfolios built on BlackRock strategies, both of which depend on deep on-chain liquidity to function.
Yet most tokenized stock supply still sits idle. The same Binance Research data shows an activation rate of 7.54%, meaning only that fraction of issued equity tokens is actively working in DeFi. That number was 1.95% in January, so it has nearly quadrupled, but the headroom is obvious. Of the capital that is deployed, 65.4% sits in liquidity pools and 28.1% in lending markets. In other words, trading venues like Uniswap are where tokenized stocks are finding their first real use, well ahead of collateral and credit.

Why Uniswap Keeps Winning This Flow
Uniswap's dominance extends beyond equities. Its V4 contracts accounted for about 50% of Ethereum DEX volume across Uniswap V2, V3, V4 and Curve by September 2026, up from 31% in August 2025, according to on-chain market-share data. Over the same stretch V2's share shrank from 5% to under 1%.
Two factors help explain the pull toward V4 for stock tokens specifically. Hooks allow a pool to enforce rules that matter for regulated assets, such as allowlists or dynamic fees around market hours, without leaving the Uniswap routing network. And aggregators already send order flow to Uniswap first, so a new equity token listed there inherits distribution on day one.
The token market has noticed. UNI was trading near $9.61, holding a support zone around $9.33, with near-term resistance at $9.93 and a larger ceiling at $12.30. The token ranged between $2.35 and $10.85 during the third quarter. Still, it remains far below its 2021 peak of $45, a reminder that protocol volume has not historically translated neatly into token value.
The Next Test: Regulated U.S. Venues
Competition for this flow is about to widen. On September 17 the SEC introduced an innovation exemption that allows tokenized securities venues to trade on-chain, with the first operator expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. Firms seeking to use the exemption are expected to disclose operating plans over the coming months.
That could cut both ways for Uniswap. Licensed venues bring compliance comfort that some institutions require, and they may pull a share of volume toward permissioned order books. On the other hand, a clearer legal footing tends to lift issuance, and more equity tokens in circulation would likely mean more pools on the DEX that already routes the majority of trades. Some DeFi projects are already building around that assumption, such as Ethena backing USDe with tokenized stocks.
Binance Research's base case sees tokenized stocks growing to $349 billion by 2030, with a conservative scenario of $61 billion and a bullish one near $987 billion. Those are wide bands. The near-term signal to watch is simpler: whether Uniswap's 60% share holds once the first SEC-sanctioned tokenized venue goes live, or whether the current volume turns out to be an early-mover advantage that regulated rivals can erode.
